WGU Welcomes Steph Wood, Get Up Underdog Talk

January 11, 2023 | Carrollton, GA.

Earlier this month, I traveled to West Georgia University to give a talk to the Division II Softball Program to give a talk on mastering the “GET UP”, the title being “Get Up Under Dog”. I was honored by being on campus and reconnecting with Head Coach Kristi Burton. I spoke to her team at Webber University last year and looked forward to being with her again. Coach Burton is an amazing energy. To be around her is to love her. She’s got the juice for sure.

Upon arriving on the the beautiful campus, nestled in the foothills, I was overwhelmed with the beauty of the facilities and the grounds. The brick buildings, and layers of facilities perfectly placed on the hills were just gorgeous. My first stop was the softball field complex where the players had just finished testing and were tarping the field. From there we drove over to The Coliseum for the talk.

What a great place The Coliseum is! Just a high-level facility! The classrooms on the second floor were spacious and equipped. I loved the classroom style for the the talk. My favorite part of the campus was the basketball arena! IT WAS EVERYTHING!!!!!! The blue, red and white just jump out at you and the smell of the court radiated to where we were standing.

The entire experience was amazing! I am so grateful to Head Coach Kristi Burton and Assistant Coach Ivey Kane and the entire softball program. Keep grinding and keep summoning the DOG!
